I am a mixed media artist in the fields of video, photography, fiber and material studies. In my personal work, I like to focus on issues relating to gender studies and feminism. I also enjoy integrating my fiber works into my videos when possible, to add a bit of whimsy to a piece that has a deep meaning and also to explore more tactile elements inside of my videos. I enjoy experimenting with different editing and shooting techniques to make my work more interesting.
As a recent graduate of The Cleveland Institute of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts I would like to pursue a career in media post-production or theatrical design.
Video Projects
Portfolio
Video is my passion, I could be happy sitting in a room editing video for the rest of my life. I made my first video in Adobe Premiere in 2005 and have fallen in love with the medium. Although I have worked with traditional methods in shooting and editing I tend to use my personal work as a way to experiment with different techniques. My most recent focus is incorporating my fiber work, including texture and pattern, into my videos.
Photography Projects
Portfolio
As a video major most of my classes were in the photography department. Taking basic classes on photography and lighting helped me to develop my knowledge of traditional techniques that I could utilize in my video work to make it look more professional and polished. Although I still like to experiment, and usually do not lean towards the traditionally looking images.
Fibers Projects
Portfolio
Fiber and material studies was my minor. I enjoy working with fabrics and making something tangible. My fiber work is where I get a chance to have fun and create whimsical art objects. Most of my fiber work deals with subverting childhood toys and images. I also like to incorporate the objects and characters into my videos when possible.
